Winter
(Oct. - Feb.)
Cold nights and sunny days, the best time for a relaxed
rejuvenating holiday. Bonfire and barbeque with rounds of drink
keep the spirit going. The water bodies witness the return of
stream birds like Himalayan Pied Kingfisher, White Capped and
Plumbous Redstarts. The migratory birds descend in large numbers
and take over the wetlands . Must carry: Warm Jacket, hat and
gloves.
Spring (March - April) |
Summer (May - June)
Monsoon (July-September)
The water streams start dying down, what was a river is almost a
trickle. Though this does not deter the elephants and the
Spotted Deer to herd together. The best time for photography and
most adventurous as elephants are all around the camps herding
at the shrinking water holes. These months have hot days and
cool nights. Must carry: T-shirts, shorts, caps/hats and
sunglasses.
The quietness is broken by lightning and heavy rainfall, the
lovely water streams take a monstrous face, dangerous for most
and adventurous for some. EWCR
gets cut off from the world, only
way to reach is by wading furious streams or on pony back. The
best time for landscape photography and adventure, the last 10
kms drive is like making your own road. Must carry: Raincoat,
floaters, T-shirts, shorts and gumboots.
Eco-tourism could be broadly defined as making
as little environmental impact as possible and helping to
sustain the indigenous populace, thereby encouraging the
preservation of wildlife and habitats when visiting a place.
Responsible Eco-tourism includes programs that minimize the
adverse effects of traditional tourism on the natural
environment and enhance the cultural integrity of local people.
Whether it's about a nature camp or organizing trekking trips
towards the un-spoilt and inaccessible regions, one should
always keep in mind not to create any mishap or disturbance in
the life cycle of nature. Historical, biological and cultural
conservation, preservation, sustainable development etc. are
some of the fields closely related to Eco-Tourism.
