Hiking is an outdoor activity of
walking in the beautiful natural environment on pre-charted
paths called hiking trails. There are day hikes and night hikes
in EWCR extending 2 to 8
kms. Rishikesh is known as the adventurous capital of India,
because there are many adventures activities taking place in
this area. Besides the river rafting, people actively
participate in hiking and trekking in and around scattered dense
forest trails on the foothills of the Himalayas.
The majestic Himalayas with the towering snow covered peaks,
forest natural water falls, river, natural streams, attractive
meadows and terraced landscapes bring to the visitor an
unforgettable life time experience and memories. While we are
trekking we come across natural dense forest which brings the
trekkers indirect contacts with the fauna and flora within the
country, and the regional life style of the people capturing the
essence of virgin nature on the river Ganga flashing the beauty,
simplicity and purity of the flowing water brings to the trekker
the extreme beauty and creation of God.
Eco-tourism could be broadly defined as making
as little environmental impact as possible and helping to
sustain the indigenous populace, thereby encouraging the
preservation of wildlife and habitats when visiting a place.
Responsible Eco-tourism includes programs that minimize the
adverse effects of traditional tourism on the natural
environment and enhance the cultural integrity of local people.
Whether it's about a nature camp or organizing trekking trips
towards the un-spoilt and inaccessible regions, one should
always keep in mind not to create any mishap or disturbance in
the life cycle of nature. Historical, biological and cultural
conservation, preservation, sustainable development etc. are
some of the fields closely related to Eco-Tourism.
